ELLE Women in Hollywood Gala 2013

October 21st brought out some major stars at the ELLE Women in Hollywood Gala 2013.  The ELLE Women in Hollywood celebration this year at The Four Seasons Hotel honored Naomie Harris, Shailene Woodley, Eva Marie Saint, Marion Cotillard, Melissa McCarthy, Reese Witherspoon and director Nancy Meyers at its 20th annual event Monday.  Many stars turned up for the celebration and looked great on the red carpet!

2013 Hamptons International Film Festival

October 10th marked the start of the 2013 Hamptons International Film Festival in Long Island, New York.  According to their website HamptonsFilmFest.org The Hamptons International Film Festival was founded to celebrate Independent film – long, short, fiction and documentary – and to introduce a unique and varied spectrum of international films and filmmakers to our audiences. The festival is committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives, with the hope that these programs will enlighten audiences, provide invaluable exposure for filmmakers and present inspired entertainment for all. The 21st Annual Hamptons International Film Festival took place October 10-14, 2013.

Primetime Emmy Awards: The Winners

CBS aired the Sixty-Fifth Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.  As we reported recently, the stars looked great out on the red carpet, but who were the big winners?

The Primetime Emmy Awards are like the Academy Awards or Oscars for television! With categories that pick top winning Actors, Actresses, Supporting Roles, Writers, Directors, and entire Series there are so many to choose from!!  Who are your favorite characters played by?  Which is your favorite Drama Series or Comedy Series?  Who would you have chosen to win in the top categories?  Let us know below and on our Oxymoron Facebook Page and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and tweet us with #PrimetimeEmmyAwards.

Some of the Series that took home Emmy’s this year included Breaking Bad for Drama Series.  Breaking Bad‘s own Anna Gunn won for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Unfortunately Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston didn’t win the Emmy‘s for their categories, but we still love the show!  Homeland on Showtime took home a couple of awards.  Claire Danes won for Lead Actress in a Drama Series and it also won in the writing category.

Jim Parsons took home an award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in The Big Bang Theory.  HBO‘s Veep and ABC‘s Modern Family were among the other top winners in the Comedy Series categories.

Toronto International Film Festival | Oscar Buzz

The 2013 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival is underway until September 15th.  According to their website, the Toronto International Film Festival or TIFF has become the launching pad for the best of international, Hollywood and Canadian cinema, and is recognized as the most important film festival after Cannes.  The Toronto International Film Festival offers screenings, lectures, discussions, festivals, workshops, industry support and the chance to meet filmmakers from Canada and around the world.

Did you know that every Academy Award winner for the Best Picture category since 2007 has been screened in some capacity at the Toronto International Film Festival?  So, you might say that the Toronto International Film Festival is a good indicator for Oscar buzz!  Out of the many movies being screened this year at TIFF, The Huffington Post tells us which eleven movies have the most to gain at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival.  Check out some of the movies below:

1.  Labor Day

Paramount Pictures has plenty of time to turn Labor Day into a major awards contender.  The film isn’t set for release until December 2013, but a good showing in Toronto could go a long way toward making Reitman’s Oscar hopeful stand out among high profile year-end releases.

2.  Gravity

Critics from other Film Festivals have been praising Alfonso Cuaron‘s Gravity starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.  The Warner Bros. film could be a top contender for Best Picture.

3.  12 Years a Slave

In this film by Steve McQueen, the first wave of festival reviews were great.  If everything follows according to that path at the Toronto International Film Festival screening, expect any and all early Oscar buzz to reverberate around the Fox Searchlite release.

The 2013 Emmy Awards | Red Carpet

The 2013 Emmy Awards aired on Sunday night September 22nd.  The 65th. annual event is considered to be televisions biggest night where the academy gives out awards to the leading actors and actresses, writers, directors, and leading television series.  There were many winners on Sunday night…but what about on the red carpet?

2013 VMAs | SUCCESS OR FAILURE?

2013 VMAs | Success or Failure?

Who watched the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night?  OMG is all we have to say!!!  Even if you haven’t seen the VMAs, we know you have seen the video clips of Miley Cyrus‘ performance of We Cant’ Stop, no?  Well if not, check it out below:

As for the rest of the show…there were some pretty cool performances!  Justin Timberlake performed on the 2013 VMAs for quite a long time, some may say they even became bored, until the end that is!  At the end of his performance, Justin Timberlake brought out a very special surprise…his former boyband mates from N’Sync.  Now, we must admit, it was pretty cool.

We finally got to see Lady Gaga at the 2013 VMAs.  Gaga was interviewed on the streets of Brooklyn which served as the red carpet for the event held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.  Lady Gaga also opened the show with a great performance of her new single “Applause“.  By the end of her performance, Gaga was half naked with big hair…and we loved it!!
